Well, this summer has been almost a repeat of last with
low, clear water and very little current. Those variables
equate to tough fishing. The best times to catch a good fish
thus far have been on cloudy overcast days with a little
rain mixed in. I've caught some nice fish this summer but
lost one of the biggest bass I've ever hooked a couple of
weeks ago in an Xtreme series tournament. She was at least
10 pounds if not better!
Recently the water in the Suwannee has risen fast with the
water dropped from Tropical Storm Fay and now Gustav. Rising
water means running water and running water means good fishing!
Just last week, the heaviest five bass limit that I've ever
heard of was weighed in during a 3 hour Tuesday night tournament.
A husband and wife team had a stringer that was 25 plus pounds!
That's right 25 pounds! Unbelievable! I can't wait for the
cooler weather to get here.
The fishing is sure to improve and the pleasure boaters
(no offense to you all) will store their rigs for the winter
and we want have to fight the traffic as much. I recently
had a gentleman and his family travel all the way from Japan
to come fish the Suwannee River! That is definately a first!
They had a great time and caught a few fish despite the unfavorable
weather conditions.
Call now to book your trip on the Suwannee or Santa Fe River
as the Suwannee Bass are getting fired up!
