Fishing Report - Black Bass:
Here at the Magic Tree Hump at the mouth of Crab Creek. This hump has a nice creek channel on the west side, and the key set up on the side next to tree line and the creek and throw up on the hump with a C-rig or Drop Shot. I would tie on a Carolina Rig with an 18” to 3ft leader with a 3/0 hook, and a ¾ oz or ½ oz Tru-Tungsten and (2) 8mm force beads. I’m using a stick type bait 4” Watermelon Chart, or Pumpkin/ Chart these are some good colors (senko knock off). Drag the c-rig or drop shot from the middle of the hump or on the outside edge back toward the creek. This spot can also be good in the early of late in the afternoon for a Top water bite as well. If you fish a drop shot this areas they can be very productive as well. I like to use 10# Fluorocarbon Seaguar line with a 1# Gamma circle hook with a 3/16 or 1/4oz drop shot weight. You will also want to look at all the grass on the 309 Flats, Yes Hydrilla... Tx-Rig and C-Rig.

Note all these GPS points that I have given out are not to be for navigation they are for reference or general area.

Also Tuff Skinz Motor covers are back. These covers can be left on your motor while you run the big motor. These covers will protect the cowling while your fishing in the timber. Check out www.tuffskinz.net or give me a call if you have any questions about the product.

If you’re on the water and you get hungry, try the restaurant at Oak Cove Marina off the Hwy 287 Bridge to the south. They have some of the best hamburgers and steak fingers on the water, and they’ve just added some terrific homemade desserts. They also have motel rooms, R.V. hook-ups, fishing pier, camping and gas on the water. To contact Oak Cove about tournaments, guide service or rooms, call 903-872-0888. http://www.oakcovemarina.com/

Be careful on the water, as you know there are no true boat lanes on the lake. If you have any questions please give me a call or drop me an e-mail. We also have a video out on the lake, which is a great tool to see the lake before you burn a tank of gas to find the fish. Check out my website www.schmidtsbigbass.com to get more info on the video. Also in closing I would like to say that some of the products in this report could be found at Gander Mountain outdoor store in Corsicana. It’s located at I-45 and Hwy 287 at exit 229. You can also find these Products at Bass Pro, Cabelas ad Academy Outdoors & Sports.
