I fished Toho with my son in law last week.
The wind was up all week, but we still caught 130 bass over
the week. We fished holes in the weeds with flukes and lizards!!
It was a great time!

Summer Forecast: July, August, and September
for Lake Toho,
Orlando, and Kissimmee, Florida

If you're hoping to catch your trophy of a lifetime during the
next few weeks, your odds are better here at Lake Tohopekaliga
than anywhere else. Why? Because Toho is the Number #1 trophy
bass fishing lake in the nation! Although this is not our peak
season for catching trophy-size bass in Florida, that does not
mean you can't catch a 10 pounder at this time of year -- because
you can!
Lake water levels have been lowered about 3 feet to avoid flooding
from the heavy, late-afternoon thunderstorms we experience during
our summer rainy season. The lower water levels force the bass
out ofthe maiden-cane grass fields and concentrate them in open-water
hydrilla fields. In this open-water environment, the bass become
more active and fishing becomes more productive (at certain times
of the day).
During July, August, and September, water temperatures at Lake
Toho and the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes range from the low 80s
to the upper 80s. Sometimes they even rise into the 90s. We have
some of the best fishing of the year during the summer, but only
during theke up in numbers.
As for artificials, we have found top-water lures to be the most
productive. Here are our favorites: plastic worms, crank baits,
soft jerk baits, rattletraps, spoons, and buzz baits. Keep in
mind, however, that bass can be moody with artificials when water
or weather conditions are not to their liking. If that appears
to be the case, you may want to switch from artificials to wild
shiners.
Important Message From the Captain: With the growing popularity
of trophy bass fishing in Florida, it is extremely important
for you to make your reservations for a bass fishing guide trip.
as far in advance as possible. That way you'll have a better
chance to get the date or dates you prefer.
Hope to see you real soon with a big bass in your hand and a
smile to match!
